My Experimental Treatment
Castor Oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the castor bean. Folk lore has for years promised the use of Castor Oil will thicken thin eyebrows and eyelashes. In addition it is supposed to accelerate the growth of hair on the head.
Jamaican Black Castor Oil is essentially the extraction of Castor Oil by a special process that includes before the extraction process roasting of the beans. This is considered to be the traditional process that is prevalent to this day in Africa and employed for a number of therapeutic uses including some worship practices.
According to the companies that market Jamaican Black Castor Oil, there are scientific studies which say that this product is much better than regular Castor Oil for the strengthening of hair follicles.
What Does Jamaican Black Castor Oil Do?
The oil penetrated via the skin of the scalp and gets to the root of the hair follicle. The oil encourages blood flow which helps hair to grow faster and stronger. In addition, the oil helps to protect the scalp from dryness and therefore prevents or reduces dandruff.
The manufacture also claims that the product is good for the treatment of acne.
Which Did I Choose?
Jamaican Black Castor Oil -EXTRA DARK
In doing my research I discovered that even though this product is used by men, it is prevalent in women’s hair treatment. Therefore I decided to buy the product that was the most potent for male pattern baldness and not for fast growth of women’s hair.
Advantages and Disadvantages
The advantage is that the product is not for daily use. It can be used sparingly, a small dab will do you. Obviously a bottle lasts a long time as a result and the cost per use is very inexpensive as a result.
The disadvantage is, apparently from the extraction process itself, that it has a very strong smell of coffee and tobacco in the most potent product. However less potent Jamaican Black Castor Oil products both for men and especially for women do not have a strong smell but are actually very pleasantly scented.
How to use?
NOTE: When I started using JCO – for the first three weeks – I used the product three times a week. Which was excessive. It caused me to lose more hair. When I used the product correctly, this effect stopped.
