ROGAINE FOAM

Starting date: 06/11/2012

Minoxidil for busy people

ROGAINE  is much easier to use than other Minoxidil 5%. It also dries faster and has no Propylene glycol. The only reason that I haven’t started with the foam version of Minoxidil 5% was because I suspected it is less effective than the liquid version. When I started suffering from the bad side effect caused by Propylene glycol I decided to take a chance and try the foam instead of the liquid.

Role in treatment

For me, to stop using some form of Minoxidil is to become bald. I tried that once and stop using Minoxidil 5 % for something like 4-5 weeks. During that period I lost bunches of hair and also my hair became much thinner. It should be noted that Minoxidil 5% does not stop hair loss and does not deal in any way with the DHT on your scalp. However, Minoxidil 5 % does promote hair growth by encouraging blood flow to the scalp. This makes the hair grow thicker and longer lasting.

Benefits

The most important benefit is that it dries very fast so as not to interfere with everyday activities. If you are sensitive to Propylene glycol then this product can be a good solution for using Minoxidil without many of the side effects that the liquid Minoxidil causes.

Disadvantages

The biggest disadvantage of this product is the high price it costs. You can get much more liquid Minoxidil from lots of companies for much less money. There is another company that sells Minoxidil 5% in a foam version. The name of the company is Kirklend. They sell it for a better price than ROGAINE  but still it is higher than most of the Minoxidil liquid products.

How to use

According to the manufacturer: “apply half a cupful 2 times a day to the scalp in the hair loss area. Massage into scalp with fingers, then wash hands well”. I apply it only once a aday for now. From my experience the Minoxidil caused me a dependence on it and I don’t want to make it any worse then it is. The guy on this video use it, more or less, same as I do:

Side effects

I started using ROGAINE FOAM on the 11th of June. For now the only side effects that I have had are dry Hair after I apply it and sometimes a little bit of itchiness.

  1. hey, about the Rogaine substitute by “Kirkland”, have you ever used it? It’s 55$ for 4 bottles. Less effective? As effective?

    • Hey dave,
I have not yet had a chance to use it, but from what I gather it’s more or less the same product as Rogaine only cheaper because Rogaine is more of a brand name. it’s an established company in the states and there’s very little fear that the price is an indication of poor quality.
